Muddler’s
University Project, 2020Muddler’s was born on an October night in a share house off Old Canterbury Rd. An amazing meal had just been served and someone made the brave call for shots: the only issue was our lack of glasses. The group’s best effort at problem solving saw us downing alcohol from a just-finished vial of turmeric, and while that choice was less than ideal, a few months later when I was given the brief to design sustainable packaging, the evening came to mind.
The result is a range of herbs and spices for young adults who love entertaining. Muddler’s packaging is infinitely recyclable and enjoyably reusable, each jar doubling as a shot glass. Simply pour your preferred alcohol into the just-finished jar to add a kick of aromatic flavour. Exploring the concept of being ‘all muddled up’, the design features altered type, free-form gradients, and organic shapes. Copy implemented is playful, leaning on the allegory of alcohol-fuelled nights to market the product.
